  1. Policy Statement

Deaf Camping & Caravanning Club UK (DCCCuk) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all adults and young people who participate in its activities. We aim to provide a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment at all events, meets, and online spaces.

  1. Scope

This policy applies to all DCCCuk members, committee members, volunteers, event hosts, and anyone involved in DCCCuk activities.

  1. Principles

DCCCuk recognises that:

  • Everyone has the right to feel safe and protected from harm
  • Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility
  • All concerns must be taken seriously and acted upon appropriately
  1. Responsibilities

4.1 The Management Committee has overall responsibility for safeguarding within DCCCuk.

4.2 Committee members and volunteers must:

  • Act in a manner that promotes safety and wellbeing
  • Be alert to signs of abuse, neglect, harassment, or exploitation
  • Report safeguarding concerns promptly
  1. Safeguarding at Events and Meets

5.1 Members attend events at their own risk and are responsible for their own wellbeing.

5.2 Hosts and organisers are not expected to act as carers.

5.3 Any safeguarding concerns arising during events should be reported to a Committee member as soon as possible.

  1. Reporting Concerns

6.1 Safeguarding concerns should be reported to the DCCCuk Chair or Secretary.

6.2 Reports will be handled sensitively and confidentially, and action will be taken where necessary.

6.3 Where appropriate, concerns may be referred to external safeguarding agencies or authorities.

  1. Breach of Policy

Failure to comply with this Safeguarding Policy may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or termination of membership.

  1. Review

This policy will be reviewed periodically and updated as required.
