  1. Policy Statement

Deaf Camping & Caravanning Club UK (DCCCuk) is committed to promoting the health, safety, and wellbeing of its members and visitors during club activities, events, and camping meets. This is a light-touch policy appropriate to a volunteer-led camping and caravanning organisation.

  1. Scope

This policy applies to all DCCCuk members, committee members, volunteers, and visitors attending DCCCuk-organised events and meets.

  1. Responsibilities

3.1 The Management Committee has overall responsibility for health and safety matters within DCCCuk.

3.2 Event hosts and organisers will take reasonable steps to ensure events are organised safely.

3.3 Members are responsible for their own actions, equipment, vehicles, and personal safety at all times.

  1. Campsites and Venues

4.1 Members must comply with all campsite, venue, and landowner rules and instructions.

4.2 DCCCuk primarily uses recognised and reputable campsites. Where unlicensed sites are used, members must comply with relevant licence conditions and guidance.

4.3 Members must pitch and position units safely, allowing appropriate space between units and access routes.

  1. Vehicles, Equipment, and Fire Safety

5.1 Members are responsible for ensuring their caravans, motorhomes, tents, gas appliances, electrical equipment, and vehicles are safe and properly maintained.

5.2 Open fires, barbecues, and generators must only be used where permitted by the site and must be supervised at all times.

5.3 Fire safety distances and site rules must be followed.

  1. Accidents and Incidents

6.1 Any accidents, injuries, or near misses occurring at DCCCuk events should be reported to the event host or a Committee member as soon as possible.

6.2 In the event of an emergency, members should contact emergency services directly.

  1. Personal Health and Wellbeing

7.1 Members attend events at their own risk and are responsible for their own health and wellbeing.

7.2 Hosts and organisers are not expected to provide medical care or act as carers.

7.3 Members should make others aware of any relevant health needs where appropriate.

  1. Weather and Environmental Conditions

8.1 Members should take appropriate precautions in adverse weather conditions.

8.2 DCCCuk reserves the right to cancel or modify events in the interests of safety.
